Now, we don't know why you've never seen these classics. Maybe you grew up in the wrong time period, maybe you're poor and can't afford a television, or maybe you're just the kind of idiot who would rather watch Honey Boo Boo.
We don't judge here. We save that for when you leave. In the mean time, enjoy today's installment of The Greatest Movies You've Never Seen.
This weeks movie is a true classic in every sense of the word. From its great cast to its witty writing, The Three Amigos is one of those movies you can watch over and over and never get tired of.
Steve Martin, Martin Short, and a still relevant Chevy Chase star as the Amigos, three Hollywood heroes who get kicked out of their kingdom when contract negotiations with Joe Mantegna go south. Desperate for money, they answer the letter of a distraught woman named Carmen, who have mistaken our stars movies for actual heroic deeds. They travel to Mexico to face off against the infamous (that's bigger than famous) El Guapo, who is tormenting the lands and terrorizing the villages.
Needless to say, hilarity ensues. We've got singing bushes, invisible horsemen, cantina dance numbers, Brian Thompson, a plethora of pinatas, and so much more.
This movie inspired me as a child, and I even made my own Amigo's costume. It came out OK, except for not resembling the source material at all, and also making me look like a complete jackass.
Even as a kid I understood the brilliance of this film. At a time when I couldn't stomach westerns, I could never get tired of the Amigos.
Their black and white films-within-a-film were hilarious, and their interactions together were comedy genius. If you've seen the movie and never done the Amigo salute, I dare say you have no soul.
If you haven't seen The Three Amigos, shame on you. Shame on you all. Go find it, rent it, buy it, or steal it. Then you can see why we love Steve Martin so much, and mourn the loss of Chevy Chase's talent.
Also Martin Short was there.
