Another day, another tribute piece to my childhood.I'll try to keep it short and sweet, which is the exact opposite of the legendary James Garner's career. He was a titan on both the big screen and small screen, starring in both the TV classic Maverick and the hit western film Maverick.
Oh, he also starred in The Notebook, Space Cowboys, The Rockford Files, Fire in the Sky, Support Your Local Sheriff!, and a plethora of movies dating back all the way to the 50's.
Aside from his role as Bret Maverick, I will always remember Garner most for the film My Fellow Americans. It was a little gem from the 90's that never seemed to catch as much attention as it deserved. His role as Clinton-esque former president Matt Douglas opposite his Republican counterpart play by Jack Lemmon was both hilarious and topical.
In a year of difficult deaths for me personally, Garner registers near the top of a very hated list.
Rest in peace, cowboy.
