Shocking news coming out of the wrestling department. Last night at the live WWE supershow in Montreal, veteran performer and beloved ring announcer Jerry "The King" Lawler suffered a heart attack during the broadcast. Things got scary very quickly, and some reports say he was clinically dead for 20 minutes before being revived.
I'm a big fan of the business, and even though I don't watch it as much as my younger days I still have nothing but respect for the performers of the WWE. Lawler was always one of my favorite bad guys, and before he was an announcer he was, and still is, the king of Memphis. Check out some of his classic interviews and matches, this guy was easily the equivalent of Ric Flair and Hulk Hogan, he just never seemed to catch the same breaks as they did.
Regardless, the thoughts and prayers of everyone on team Blogzilla 1985 are with Lawler and his family.

I was so shocked and sad when I found our last night. I hope that everything goes well with his surgery. Regardless of not catching a break and being one of the major stars, he is a great icon of WWE. Best wishes for his health, his family and a speedy recovery.
