A Wee Bit O' Random

No focused blog today. Just a bunch of random things to talk about. Here we go -

Of importance to some is the announcement of my next story. For those of you who enjoyed “The Coming Darkness,” both Pat and Lindsey, I bring to you another entry into my vault of horrors. Except this time there is no social commentary, no higher philosophy or symbolism, just a good old fashioned scary story. Two college girls go with ones family to a cabin in deep and vast forest for a week. While the parents are trying to resolve marital issues, the girls keep themselves busy with the few people they come across in the area, including a socially awkward young man with a strange paranoia. When the father becomes trapped in a snowstorm and resorts to unspeakable methods to stay alive, he begins to change and finds himself always hungry for more. I can't give away too much here, but I have been obsessed with this wendigo thing lately. This one is going to be super gory and I'm very excited about it.

Lindsey is still in the running for the Jim Henson/Fraggle contest. Although I think it's a tremendous honor just to be involved, I think the piece she submitted is amazing, and I would very much like for her to win. You can vote for her at -

The violence in Syria continues as the city of Apello remains under constant bombardment. Imagine if you will, living in rubble, with no money or way to live, and having every step possibly be your last with snipers looking to shoot anyone and everyone they find. It's a tragedy. I've seen the videos of little kids with their heads half blown off, I've seen bodies thrown from rooftops while rebels cheer and celebrate. And it's all disgusting. I can't believe that humanity, in this day and age, can still be so misguided and destructive. What is the price of a human life? Land? Power? Over 17,000 people have died since the civil unrest started. 17,000. Let that sink in for a moment.

Megadeth lead singer Hugh Jackass made some interesting and mind boggling comments during a foreign concert recently. He actually accused our president Barack Obama of staging the Colorado theater shootings to help pass gun bans. Wow, just wow. I have some hardcore Republican friends, I have some hardcore gun fanatic friends, and I like to think even they consider this guy to be the years biggest moron. I remember a few years ago when the Dixie Chicks were basically tarred and feathered for insinuating that they were ashamed President Bush was from their state. So why is it that this raging fucktard hasn't been demonized in the media the same way? I have a few theories. We may have a Democratic president, but we are still very much a conservative country. It's always easier to bust on the liberal than attack a good God fearing redneck. That's the crazy theory. The most likely one is that, at the time, the Dixie Chicks were huge stars. Megadeth hasn't been huge since....were they ever huge?

You may have already heard, but there's a new Sailor Moon anime set to premier in 2013. I'm giddy with excitement. Most people know that Sailor Moon was my first true anime, and I always found the comical exploits of the sailor senshi to be very entertaining and inspiring to me as a writer. My own Sailor Moon series, the popular Ultimate Sailor Moon (http://lastchancelimited.deviantart.com/gallery/637980#/dye1a6), is one of my favorite stories to work on. It's a new spin on the tale, but I try to keep the spirit of the original alive. I hope this new anime series will do the same.

In other news, Dragonball Fighter #59 will be out this year, and it will still suck.

In other video game news, the 3DSXL (whew!) comes out this Sunday, along with the new New New New Super Mario Bros. New. I'm hoping to pick them both up, as I am a longtime Mario fanatic, and I think the 3DS is a fantastic piece of machinery. Of course, I'm not making Gamestop money anymore, so how I'm going to afford it is a problem. Please email me for donations. I'm not joking. Of course I am! ….... Seriously.

Guild Wars 2 is almost here, and as you all know, because you all read my blog religiously, it will be my last hurrah when it comes to persistent online gaming. That's not to say I won't pop my head into the Secret World or The Old Republic now and again, but the days of buying every MMO that hits the market is definitely over.

WWE comes to Cape Girardeau on the 24th and your humble blog master has his ticket ready. I'll be making an appearance at the event along with some friends, and it should be a night of good fun. If I can just get Zack Ryder to hang out with me I'll be pleased as punch.

UK developer Rebellion, maker of the most recent AVP game and Star Wars Battlefront, is suing developer Stardock for using the word “rebellion” in one of their next expansions. Combine that with Bethesda suing over the word “scrolls” and we're heading down a very slippery slope of what can and cannot be copyrighted.

John Massey turns 35 today. For those of you who don't know, John was my former ASM and current SM of Gamestop 261, and winner of the best Will Ferrell Impersonating Harry Carey Award, 3 years in a row.

And finally, I want to thank everyone for reading. This has actually been more successful than I thought it would be. I started writing again just to get myself back into the groove, and it has turned into something I really enjoy. Gracias mi amigos.

Go watch Bronson.
